The second course of action is to appeal to our legislators for help in expediting construction <br />of the Rice Street Bridge over Highway 36. The lack of road funding pushes construction <br />timelines for projects such as this one farther and farther into the future. It also causes a key <br />local business with national prominence (St. Jude Medical) to re-evaluate potential expansion <br />in our area. Given the State of Minnesota's assistance with transportation improvements for <br />the Medtronic project in Mounds View, it would seem similar assistance in appropriate here <br />as well. <br />If you agree with these recommendations, I would recommend we adopt the attached <br />resolution and forward it to the appropriate officials.
