2006 Budget Comments and Proposed Cuts
By Gouncii Member Greg 5chroeder
Revised #0109I05
Neats' 2006 Budget Memo
1 Establish a city pay scale at 97%of Stanton V average and also add pay-for-pertormance margin of 76%to limited
number of city employees. Cost $50,000
To this is kind of a slap in the face if I was an employee It says that unless the are a fRfed
employee they will never ever match the Stanton average, Sothey will aMrays be bef(w average
Aiso, I have a fundamental problem with giving a select few (thosewho can suck up ta the 4Q'
manager the most) ex#r a$
2 Authorize$30,OOOforCommunitySurvey
No I do not beljeve this is necessary Aiso, I do not have any trust in surveys q pilot studies as
they can be wriften or accomplish m a way that gives the writer the nswe they want
3 Adding a Police Captain in 2006
No, i am not in favor of this. To me we are creating a position which looks betteran paper and
allows the person in it to use it as a stepping stone to a job sqme place else
4 Add one full time employee (Training Office) to Fire Departrnent
The bottpin iine is that a full time training officer fs to get the fire department one more step closer
to a fuli time department. When the full-time Chief was hire his position was based on him do3ng
the training. When the Deputy Chiefwas hired. his position wasjustified by him doing thetraining
Now they want to hfre a full time training officer I am not fpf this as € is building a FULL TIM fire
Department one person at a time. In fact, i would be in fVpT of elfmfna#fng both the full tfine Fire
Chlef nd Deputy Chief paritions Thiswould result maar sawngs and get us backto a
volunteerdeparimenfwherewe belong
5 Authorize Fire Departrnentto respond to all vehicle accident scene
Why are we determining when the Fire Department is called to a scene?? This should be IeR up
to the people on the scene o khSJSethat have the InFprrra#fo #o make the ecisian, not us It
SRUnd flke we are to make thfs decision and q the:ir budget is not sutficient, we are to blame and
m have to increase it.
i d ul
