3 T <br />� � 1 J J <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 11/14/OS <br />Item: 3.0 <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />�aa.��� � <br />Item Description: Establish a Special City Council Meeting to Interview <br />Applicants for the Housing and Redevelopment Authority <br />Back�round <br />At the City Council Meeting of September 12,2005, Mayor Klausingnoted a vacancy <br />on the HRA Board due to the normal expiration of Ann Hermes' term and her decision <br />not to seek reappointment. <br />After discussion, it was Council consensus that the Mayor would do the initial <br />screening, then present his recommendationto the City Council, with the City Council <br />having the benefit of reviewing all applications, and a smaller number of candidates <br />selected for interview purposes. <br />Mayor Klausing opined his preference to have the HRA Chair sit in during the <br />interview process. <br />Council consensus was to direct staff to follow the normal Advisory Board vacancy <br />process with a 30-day application process. <br />Three applications were received by the October 12,2005 deadline. The applicants are <br />Susan Elkins, Ronald R. Kampa and Bob Venters. <br />Council Action <br />Motion to establish a special work session at 5.20 p.m. on Monday, November 21, <br />2005, for the purpose of interviewing Housing and Redevelopment Authority <br />applicants. <br />� <br />
