City Council Regular Meeting — U124/5
DRAFT Minutes - Page 14
Mr. Johnson noted that the Cities of Fridey, Columbia Heights,
Hilltop, New Brighton, Arden Hills, Blaine, Shoreview, and
Spring Lake Park were current members; and that his territory, as
a Sales Associate for the Chamber, encompassed the area of
Brooklyn Center to Little Canada, along with Coon Rapids and
Blaine.
Mayor Klausing asked what advantage to the citizens of
Roseville, membership in the organization would provide.
Mr. Johnson read the organization' mission statement; and Mr.
Weninger noted the Chamber's "pro" business advantages,
business networking opportunities, and involvement with the
Roseville Visitor's Association (RVA), which group was a
member, would be beneficial to all parties.
Councilmember Kough noted that the membership of $500
annually was advantageous and provided the City with a chance
to attend the I-35W Corridor Coalition meetings as a Chamber
member.
Coutcz.aebe Ihlan requested a sample of Roseville businesses
having membership in the organization.
Mr. Johnson noted that the largest member entity was the
Rosdale Shopping Center; and the smallest representative
business was the Roseville Auto Body Shop.
Kough moved, Schroeder seconded, membership in the Twin
Cities North Chamber of Commerce at a membership fee not to
exceed $500.00 for a one-year membership.
Mayor Klausing opined that, while he was pro-business, the City
was currently under extremely tight budget constraints, and had
eliminated membership in a number of city-affiliated
organizations that may prove more advantageous to the City;
further opining that membership would be more benecial to
businesses, rather than the City.
Councilmember Schroeder spoke in support of the motion;
