Gasaway is the lone finalist in the search for a new Burnsville fire chief. <br />Gasaway will now meet with City Manager Craig Ebeling, who will malce the hiring decision. <br />The new chief will replace Ron Payne, who retired at the end of May. Assistant Chief Steve Harklerode, who's been acting chief <br />in Payne's absence, didn't apply for the top job. <br />None of the �� applicants were from the department, said Jill Hansen, director of human resources. <br />Three of the i0 were invited for interviews Monday with a panel of department members and a panel of community and city <br />government representatives. Each candidate also gave a presentation to the City Council. <br />Gasaway was the clear favorite of all the groups, Hansen said. <br />He's been Roseville's chief since �999 and was chief of the Springfield Township Fire Department in Akron, Ohio, from ���4 to <br />1999• <br />Gasaway earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from West Virginia University in 1983 and a master of business <br />.administration from the University of Dayton in 1989. <br />His career in firefighting and emergency medical servicebegan in ig79 in Weirion, W.Va., where he served until 1987 with the <br />Ambulance and Rescue Squad and Fire Department.
