<br />GENERAL DEF1N1T10NS
<br />APPROVED. Approvedby the codeofficial
<br />BASEMENT. That portion of a building which is partlY or

<br />surfaces t�ai minimizes the possibility of a fall from the walk-

<br />HABITABLE SPACE. Space in a si��RCtu�e for living, sleep-
<br />��, eatineor conk'sng. Bathrooms,toiletrooms, closets. halls,
<br />storage or utility spaces, and similar areas a�e not considered
<br />habitable spaces.
<br />HOUSEKEEPING UN1T.Aroomorgroupofroomsforming
<br />a single habitable space equipped and intet�ded lo be used for
<br />living, sleeping, cooking and eating which does not contain,
<br />within such a unit, a toilet, lavatory and bathtub or shower.

<br />1NFESTATION. The presence, within or contiguous to, a
<br />siructur� or premises of insects, r�� vermin or ol�er pests.
<br />1NOPERABLE MOTOR VEHICLE. Avehiclewhich can-
<br />not be driven upon the public streets for �easan including but
<br />notlimited to being unlicensed,wrecked, abandoned, in a staYe
<br />ofdisrepair, or inoapable ofbeing moved under its owrs power.
<br />LABELED. Devices, equipment, appliances, or materials lo
<br />which has been a�txed a label, seal, symbol or other identify-
<br />ing mark of a nationally recognized testing laboratory, inspec-
<br />tion agency or other organfzation concerned with product
<br />evaluationthatmaintains perindic incpeo��€on ot'the prpductioi�
<br />of the �bpve-labelecl items and by whose label the �tt��u�ac-
<br />tu�er attests to compliance ini� applicable nationally recog-
<br />nized standards.
