Department Approval
l',
Jy
REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date: September 28, 2009
Item No.: 7.c
City Manager Approval
Item Description: Approve Northwest Youth and Family Services Contract
BACKGROUND
Northwest Youth and Family Services (NYFS) is a non-profit social service agency whose
mission is to meet the unmet developmental needs of at-risk youth and families within northwest
Ramsey County and school districts 621, 623 and 282. The City of Roseville has provided
financial support to NYFS for many years. The City Managers and Administrators from Arden
Hills, Falcon Heights, Little Canada, Mounds View, New Srighton, North Oaks, Shoreview, St.
Anthony and Roseville reached a five-year agreement that would provide annual increases based
on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rather than the Implicit Price Deflector (IPD).
FINANCIAL IMPACTS
Annual increases to the NYFS would be tied to the CPI and would not exceed three percent. In
2010 there would be no increase over the 2009 rate.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Approve the NYFS contract.
REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION
Approve the NYFS contract.
Prepared by: Bill Malinen
Attachments: A: NYFS Contract
