Department Approval <br />l�'�, <br />Jy <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 11/9/09 <br />Item No.: 12.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />a � . <br />PT/DM <br />Item Description: Community Development Department Request to Perform a City <br />Abatement for an unresolved violations of City Code at 177 South Owasso <br />Blvd. <br />BACKGROUND <br />• The subject property is a vacant single family home at 177 South Owasso Soulevard. <br />• The current owner is Ms. Felicia Hodge who lives in California. <br />• Current violations include: <br />Outside storage of old tires (Violation of City Code Section 407.03.H) <br />Junk/Debris in yard (Violation of City Code Section 407.02.D). <br />• A status update will be provided at the Council hearing. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The City goals within the Comprehensive Plan are to protect and improve property values (Goal 3, 4, <br />and 5; page 6 and, Section 3) and to adhere to performance standards which protect the integrity of the <br />housing units and the neighborhood (Policy 6, page 8, Section 3). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />Citv Abatement: <br />Abatement would encompass the following: <br />• Removal and disposal of tires and garbage bags: <br />o Approximately - $300.00 <br />• Total: Approximately - $300.00. <br />In the short term, costs of the abatement will be paid out of the: <br />HRA budget, which has allocated $100,000 for abatement activities (residential). <br />The property owner will then be billed for actual and administrative costs. If charges are not paid, staff <br />is to recover costs as specified in Section 407.075. Costs will be reported to Council following the <br />abatement. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
