Department Approval <br />l�'�, <br />Jy <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 11/9/09 <br />Item No.: 12.b <br />City Manager Approval <br />a � . <br />PT/DM <br />Item Description: Community Development Department Request to Perform a City <br />Abatement for an unresolved violations of City Code at 2026 Asbury Street <br />BACKGROUND <br />• The subject property is an owner occupied single family home at 2026 Asbury Street. <br />• The current owner is Ms. Grace Mwassa who lives in the house. <br />• Current violations include: <br />• Very extensive outside storage of junk and household furnishings (Violation of City Code <br />Section 407.03.H) <br />• Similar violations occurred in 2003. Long grass violations in 2004 and 2009. <br />• A status update will be provided at the Council hearing. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The City goals within the Comprehensive Plan are to protect and improve property values (Goal 3, 4, <br />and 5; page 6 and, Section 3) and to adhere to performance standards which protect the integrity of the <br />housing units and the neighborhood (Policy 6, page 8, Section 3). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />Citv Abatement: <br />Abatement would encompass the following disposal: <br />• Removal and disposal of junk -$250.00 <br />• Removal, storage, and eventual disposal of household furnishings stored outside: <br />o Removal and transfer to storage facility -$1, 250.00 <br />0 90 day storage - $350.00 <br />o Potential sale/disposal (as per City Code Section 508) -$1,000.00 <br />• Total: Approximately - $2,850.00. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
