l�'�, <br />Jy <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />�;-� o� <br />Item Description: Approve Fire Department Rescue/Pumper Apparatus <br />Date: 11/23/2009 <br />Item No.: 12.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />� / <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Fire Department continually evaluates the Fire Apparatus Fleet and the need to replace <br />apparatus as they age and require increased costs of maintenance. The Fire Department <br />currently has a 22 year old Fire Engine that has been scheduled for replacement approximately 2 <br />years ago. The Fire Department was authorized to seek proposals for the purchase of a new Fire <br />Rescue/Pumper Apparatus in October 2009. The Fire Department received two bid proposals, <br />one from Wisconsin based CustomFIRE with a total price of $479,670.00, and one from <br />Minnesota based Rosenbauer Firefighting Technologies General Division with a total price of <br />$456,982.00. After a thorough review of the proposals from both manufacturers, the Fire <br />Department Truck Committee has selected the proposal by Rosenbauer Firefighting Technology <br />General Division meets or exceeds all requirements established by the Fire Department Truck <br />Committee. <br />The Fire Department, therefore seeks approval from City Council to enter into contract for the <br />purchase of One Fire Rescue/Pumper Apparatus from Rosenbauer Firefighting Technology <br />General Division. The cost of the proposed apparatus is $456,982.00 with a loose equipment <br />cost of $42,044.00 <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />Funds for the replacement of this apparatus and equipment are currently in the Fire Department <br />Vehicle Replacement fund requiring no additional allocation of funds. The total expense for this <br />purchase, including Apparatus and Equipment is $499,026.00 <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends council authorize the Fire Department to enter in to contract for the purchase <br />of a new Rescue/Pumper apparatus and accompanying equipment. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Authorize the Fire Department to enter into contract with Rosenbauer Firefighting Technologies <br />General Division for the purchase of a new Fire Rescue/Pumper apparatus and authorize the <br />purchase of accompanying equipment for said apparatus. <br />Prepared by: Timothy O'Neill, Interim Fire Chief <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
