The Oval last hosted this prestigious international event in
1998, and we expect over 100 young athletes from 20 countries to compete for the
title of 2004 Junior World Champion. The Junior World Championships are scheduled
for February 20-22, 2004 and will be hosted by the Greater Minnesota Speedskating
Association. The Radisson Roseville (www.radisson,com/rosevillemn) will be the
official Host Hotel, and the official media hotel will be the Marriott Courtyard
Roseville (www.courtyard.cam/msprl.) The Super 8 Roseville (phone 651 636-8888)
is also an official event hotel. A complete listing of lodging available in Roseville can
by found by visiting the Roseville Visitor's Association website at:
www.visitroseville.com.
Governor's Race
As part of the festivities surrounding this event, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty
will lace up his hockey skates and take on Speedskating legend and Olympic
medallist Bonnie Blair in the Governor's Challenge 500 meter race on Friday
afternoon, February 20th. Don't miss this exciting race to kick off the weekend of
racing; we plan to provide Bonnie with a time handicap to make this race close and
exciting for all skating fans!
Tickets
Event passes (good for all three days of racing) will be available for $12 and single
day passes for $6. Tickets will be available by late December and will be sold by the
John Rose Oval, the Roseville High School DECA organization, and the Roseville
Visitors Association, as well as other outlets to be announced.
