D. <br />Department Approval Manager Approval Agenda Section <br />� Organizational Business <br />Item Description: <br />City Council Calendar <br />Backmound: <br />Attached is a draft of a potential Roseville City Council Meeting Calendar for 2004. <br />(Attachment 1) <br />Council calendars for 2003 and 2002 are also attached for reference. (Attachments 2& 3) <br />Discussion: <br />The attached draft Calendar is basically a three-meeting-per-month schedule, with the second <br />and fourth Mondays slated for regular council meetings and the third Monday of each month <br />scheduled for work sessions. Because of holidays and other special circumstances, there are <br />some exceptions to the three-meeting-per-month schedule. For example, <br />+ Given that the first council meeting of the year is held on the first Monday of the year, <br />given that MLK Day is on the third Monday of January, and given the Council's desire <br />to expedite the appointment of a new councilmember to fill the council vacancy, January <br />includes four meetings; <br />� In March, I suggest no council meeting during the spring break recess for the Dist. <br />6211623 schools, thus postponing the regular council meeting on the fourth Monday of <br />March to the fifth Monday; <br />+ In June, canceling the regular council meeting on the fourth Monday of the month due to <br />the Rosefest Parade that evening; <br />� In December, we must hold a Truth in Taxation Hearing early in the month; due to that <br />situation plus the Hannukah and Christmas holidays, I suggest just two meetings in <br />December on the first and third Mondays. <br />There are opportunities for vacations under this schedule. In the Spring, there is Spring Break <br />the week of March ��"� . There are also no meetings the first two Mondays in April due to <br />Passover and Easter. There are no meetings the fifth Monday of May — which is Memorial Day <br />— and the first Monday of June. In the Summer, there are no meetings on June � 8`�' (however, <br />the Rosefest Parade is that day) and July �'' (Independence Day). In the Fall, there are no <br />
