Application for Twin Lakes Stakeholder Panel
Amy Ililan
Reasons for Wantin. to Serve on Twin Lakes Panel:
My family and I live in the Twin Lakes area, and for that reason alone have a strong stake in the
future of our neighborhood. If I am appointed to the stakeholder panel, my primary goal will be
to bring more neighborhoodand Roseville residents into the discussion, and increase
communication between the city staff, the developers and Roseville residents and business
owners. I was involved at a grass roots level with my neighbors on last summer's proposal, and
understandfrom that experience how the process can be impaired by lack of communication and
lack of opportunity for public input, especially if neighborhood residents feel excluded and
surprised by proposed development plans.
MY view of the Twin Lakes RedevelomentArea and How I Could Contribute:
I believe that the Twin Lakes area should be redeveloped. But the city should make its
development choices carefully, with the good of the entire residential and business community in
mind. I also believe that decisions made on Twin Lakes will set the tone and trajectory of
Roseville's future growth and development. If am appointed to the stakeholder panel, I will
contribute to the process in a positive, reflective way, looking toward Roseville's fuhue. As
explained above, I will contribute to the stakeholder panel by bringing more Roseville residents
into the discussion. It is important that neighbors and other Roseville residents be able to raise
their concerns and questions and have them addressed early in the development process. The
stakeholder panel could be a very effective method for achieving this. Because I have already
been talking and working with my neighbors on various issues related to Twin Lakes, I am in a
very good position to make sure that residents' questions and concerns are communicated to the
panel, and report back on progress and results.
I appreciate the city's efforts to put in place a more open, deliberative and community-oriented
developmentprocess. The Twin Lakes redevelopmentcould serve as a model for the emerging
concept of stakeholder-based city planning. I would be excited to be a part of that.
