REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval: <br />DW/CB <br />DATE: 02/09/04 <br />ITEM NO: 5.1 <br />na�er Anrr vecl� Agenda Section: <br />C�� ��� RECOGNITION <br />Item Description: City of Roseville, 2004 Home and Garden Fair: Resolution of Appreciation <br />1 �D BACKGROUND <br />1. l On January 31, 2004, the City of Roseville held the eighth annual Home and Garden Fair, at the <br />Fairview Community Center Gymnasium. The Fair has become increasingly popular with both <br />exhibitors and the general public. This popularity is due in large part to the over 450 hours <br />volunteers have dedicated this year toward the effort to professionalize the Fair by making it <br />informative and fun for the attendees as we11 as pro�itable for the exhibitors. <br />�.? This year the Home and Garden Committee started planning the Fair in Ju1y 2003. The result of <br />the ongoing efforts for the 2004 Home and Garden Fair produced 48 exhibit booths, with an <br />attendance by the public of over 1,000. <br />]. 3 This year we exceeded expectations in obtaining private Sponsorships. Three Corporate <br />Sponsorships were received: Linder's Garden Center, Renewal by Andersen and TEMO <br />Sunrooms; and, seven Regular Sponsorships were received: CommunityNational Bank, Home <br />Sweet Home Equity, JR Builders, Mortgage & Investment Consultants, Reilly Plumbing & <br />Heating, Rockler Woodworking & Hardware and Titan Construction. These Sponsorships aid in <br />supporting our Fair and demonstrate faith in the success of the Fair. <br />1.� <br />��a <br />�� <br />��� <br />�• <br />The Fair Coordinating Committee includes: <br />Lynnae LeBarron, Roseville Senior Program <br />Polly Heaton, Fairview Community Center <br />Shirley Friberg, Community Volunteer <br />Ju1ia Heath, Li11ie Suburban Newspapers <br />Jeff Evenson and Ji11 Anfang, Roseville Parks & Recreation <br />Carolyn Curti and Tim Pratt, Roseville Administration <br />Cathy Bennett and Pat Morrison, Roseville Comm. Dev. Dept. <br />Additional volunteers this year included: <br />Scott Heaton, Roy and Marge Halvorson, A1 and Nina Ah1f, Marilyn and <br />Tony Dady, Janet Skipon, Marlys Borde <br />Deb B1oom, Roseville Engineering Department <br />Representatives from Police Department, Fire Department, Parks and <br />Recreation Department, Community Development Department, Housing <br />Resource Center <br />Roseville Commissions: HRA, Parks & Recreation, Public Works & <br />Transportation, Human Rights <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff recommends that the Council acknowledge the efforts of the volunteers that participated <br />in the 2004 Home and Garden Fair by approving a resolution thanking them for the many hours <br />dedicated to the success of the Fair. <br />SUGGESTED CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br />By resolution extend the City's appreciation and gratitude to the Sponsors and to a11 the volunteers <br />who participated in the 2004 Roseville Home and Garden Fair. <br />RCA: 2004 Roseville Home & Garden Fair AppreciationResolution <br />
