REQUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL ACTION Department Approval: DW/CB DATE: 02/09/04 ITEM NO: 5.1 na�er Anrr vecl� Agenda Section: C�� RECOGNITION Item Description: City of Roseville, 2004 Home and Garden Fair: Resolution of Appreciation 1 �D BACKGROUND 1. l On January 31, 2004, the City of Roseville held the eighth annual Home and Garden Fair, at the Fairview Community Center Gymnasium. The Fair has become increasingly popular with both exhibitors and the general public. This popularity is due in large part to the over 450 hours volunteers have dedicated this year toward the effort to professionalize the Fair by making it informative and fun for the attendees as we11 as pro�itable for the exhibitors. �.? This year the Home and Garden Committee started planning the Fair in Ju1y 2003. The result of the ongoing efforts for the 2004 Home and Garden Fair produced 48 exhibit booths, with an attendance by the public of over 1,000. ]. 3 This year we exceeded expectations in obtaining private Sponsorships. Three Corporate Sponsorships were received: Linder's Garden Center, Renewal by Andersen and TEMO Sunrooms; and, seven Regular Sponsorships were received: CommunityNational Bank, Home Sweet Home Equity, JR Builders, Mortgage & Investment Consultants, Reilly Plumbing & Heating, Rockler Woodworking & Hardware and Titan Construction. These Sponsorships aid in supporting our Fair and demonstrate faith in the success of the Fair. 1.� ��a �� �� �• The Fair Coordinating Committee includes: Lynnae LeBarron, Roseville Senior Program Polly Heaton, Fairview Community Center Shirley Friberg, Community Volunteer Ju1ia Heath, Li11ie Suburban Newspapers Jeff Evenson and Ji11 Anfang, Roseville Parks & Recreation Carolyn Curti and Tim Pratt, Roseville Administration Cathy Bennett and Pat Morrison, Roseville Comm. Dev. Dept. Additional volunteers this year included: Scott Heaton, Roy and Marge Halvorson, A1 and Nina Ah1f, Marilyn and Tony Dady, Janet Skipon, Marlys Borde Deb B1oom, Roseville Engineering Department Representatives from Police Department, Fire Department, Parks and Recreation Department, Community Development Department, Housing Resource Center Roseville Commissions: HRA, Parks & Recreation, Public Works & Transportation, Human Rights STAFF RECOMMENDATION The staff recommends that the Council acknowledge the efforts of the volunteers that participated in the 2004 Home and Garden Fair by approving a resolution thanking them for the many hours dedicated to the success of the Fair. SUGGESTED CITY COUNCIL ACTION By resolution extend the City's appreciation and gratitude to the Sponsors and to a11 the volunteers who participated in the 2004 Roseville Home and Garden Fair.
