Date: 02/23/04 <br />Item: 4.2 <br />Recognitions <br />Narianal Sportsmanship Day <br />Roseville Proclamation <br />National Sportsmanship Day <br />March 2,2004 <br />Whereas: The City of Roseville values trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, <br />caring and good citizenship, all characteristics of good sportsmanship; and <br />Whereas: National Sportsmanship Day serves as a forum for students, parents <br />administrators, coaches and fans to discuss issues of ethics, fair play and sportsmanship; and <br />Whereas: National Sportsmanship Day raises issues about sportsmanship and ethics in <br />athletics and daily lives and stimulates meaningful conversations; and <br />Whereas: National Sportsmanship Day is held annually on the first Tuesday of March and <br />the ��m annual National Sportsmanship Day will talce place on March 2,2004; and <br />Whereas: National Sportsmanship Day involves participation of sports organizations, <br />schools and parlcs and recreation departments in all 50 states and more than 200 countries; and <br />Whereas: The City of Roseville offers more than 5,000 parlc and recreational activities each <br />year; and <br />Whereas: The City of Roseville promotes good sportsmanship and physical fitness and <br />exercise to develop physical slcills and a healthy lifestyle; and <br />Whereas: Hundreds of individuals volunteer to coach for athletic activities in the City of <br />Roseville. <br />Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the City Council hereby declare March 2,2004, to be <br />National Sportsmanship Day in the City of Roseville and urges all citizens to join together <br />celebrate the contributions that sports provide to the community. <br />In the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, U.S.A <br />In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Roseville <br />to be affixed this 23rd day of February 2004. _��� � <br />Mayor Craig D.
