Ms. Pederson connected this from a public safety,
recreational, housing, and communication standpoint in the
global picture. Ms. Pederson advised that the Commission
attempted to have a minimum of two (2) commissioners at
each neighborhood event.
Councilmember Maschka noted that the nature of
business within the community was changing, and
former civic organizations that provided service-
oriented interests in the community would need replaced
or institutionalized, perhaps through the development of
the previously-discussed Volunteer Coordinator.
Mr. Mulder concurred, questioning how communities
needed to organize today, and if they needed to organize
around different issues, events, or facilities (i.e., specific
park areas); and how the City invested in them.
Further discussion included the Human Rights aspects of
where people live; how they identify their lifestyles; and
related logistics;
Mr. Brokke further highlighted that only 113 of the parks
had Master Plans completed to-date, and there were
changing trends and uses, and changing neighborhoods.

1. { Opportunity for re-evaluation of system
2.
