The <br />entire surface is then vacuumed and then <br />blown clean with compressed air. Particular <br />care must be taken to avoid blowing debris into <br />the building or towards any parking areas. <br />Surface preparation is critical to performance <br />of the epoxy. <br />Areas of decking in which rust has penetrated <br />must be completely removed and replaced with <br />the same profile metal deck. Areas of decking <br />that are pitted should be spot coated with 2- <br />Part Epoxy and overlaid with similar decking. <br />Overlaid decking repairs should span 3 bar <br />joists and be mechanicallyfastened into the <br />top flange of the joists. <br />After all structural repairs have been performed <br />the balance of the deckin� that has any <br />evidence of rust should � coated with a fast <br />drying low solids epoxy. It is important to utilize <br />the correct equipment to apply this material <br />without the use of thinners which can cause <br />severe fume problems. Additional precautions <br />can be made to prevent fumes including <br />sealing all deck openings, shutting off HVAC <br />units and shrink-wrapping the air intakes. After <br />Epoxy application, your new roof can be <br />instaped. <br />In most instances, 140% of aM� the costs for these repairs can <br />be covered by the manufacturer of your PFRI. <br />(Find out how) <br />
