As a
result of those threats, Superintendent Jan Witthuhn invited the Mayors and City Managers of the
seven cities that are part of the Mounds View School District to discuss what happened and
asked for ways that the Cities could work together to challenge this behavior. Roseville Human
Rights Chair Thelma McKenzie and Neal Beets attended the meeting. The attendees discussed
activities that the school district and the cities could undertake to speak out against racism and
terrorist threats. Participants agreed on the importance of sending a unified message that
terrorism and racism are not accepted in our communities.
Council Action Requested:
Motion to direct the Mayor to sign the Mounds View School District Board and the City
Councils of Arden Hills, Mounds View, New Brighton, North Oaks, Roseville, Shoreview and
Vadnais Heights resolution against racism and terrorist threats.
