Regular City Council Meeting — 03/29/04 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 11 <br />participate in a demonstration of various models prior to <br />making a decision on purchase. <br />Mayor Klausing recommended that the Council accept <br />staff's professional judgment on the size and capabilities <br />of the machine recommended; but sought clarification that <br />staff had considered purchase of this equipment under <br />current budget constraints as a good use of City resources. <br />Mr. Schwartz responded that it was staff's opinion that <br />this unit would utilize limited staff and resources more <br />efficiently in increasing the level of service in the <br />continuing beautification of Roseville. <br />Councilmember Maschka noted past purchase of larger <br />riding mowers that allowed more efficient use of time and <br />equipment; and that this seemed a similar situation. <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, approval of the <br />purchase of a Litter Vac machine from Tennant Company <br />at a cost not to exceed $25,560.00. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: None. <br />4. Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br />4.a Approve a Special Joint Resolution Against Terrorism <br />and Racism in Mounds View Schools <br />City Manager Beets advised that this joint resolution, <br />prompted and authored by the City of Roseville's Human <br />Rights Commission Chair Thelma McKenzie, was an <br />outcome of recent meetings among Mounds View School <br />District No. 621 and area city personnel; to publicly <br />acknowledge the broader community's intolerance of this <br />abhorrent behavior. Mr. Beets noted that criminal and <br />internal investigations were ongoing related to recent <br />racial and bomb threats in the Mounds View school <br />Recognitions, <br />Donations, <br />Communications <br />Approve a Special <br />Joint Resolution <br />Against Terrorism <br />and Racism in <br />Mounds View <br />Schools <br />
