Background <br />You discussed citizen advisory commissions on January 5, February 23, and March 8. <br />At your March 8 Council meeting [minutes attached], you (a) extended the commission terms <br />expiring on March 31 to May 31, (b) directed staffto advertise for the one vacancy on the Plan- <br />ning Commission and the two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Commission, and (c) di- <br />rected staff to develop interview schedules following the close of the applicationperiod, with <br />commission appointments to be made following the Apri120r� Special Election. [Again, minutes <br />are attached.] <br />II. Purpose <br />Provide Council with copies of applications received. Receive any council or community guid- <br />ance about citizen advisory commissions, or the appointmentlreappointment process. Suggest <br />interview schedules. <br />III. Applications Received <br />Attached are copies of the seven applications we received for the Planning Commission and the <br />seven we received for the Parks and RecreationCommission. (Note: Some residents applied for <br />both commissions.) <br />IV. Possiblelnterview Schedules <br />A. Call a Special Council Meeting for 6 p.m. on Monday, May 3, just to interview ap- <br />plicants. <br />B. Call a Special Council Meeting to begin at 5 p.m. before any of your regularly <br />scheduled May Council Meetings on May 10, 17, or 24. <br />C. Call a Special Council Meeting for another day in May. <br />V. Request for Council Action <br />A motion setting the date and time for the Council to interview the applicants for the Planning <br />and the Parks and Recreation Commissions. <br />
