City of
r,;.,,,' i
Citizen Concerns and City Staff Responses
arising out of the
Community Town Hall Meeting
Saturday, April 3, 2004
Fairview Community Center
On Saturday, Apri13, the Roseville City Council held a Town Hall meeting. This was
the second of a three step effort to set goals for the 2005 City budget. Residents met one-
on-one with elected officials and staff to air their questions and concerns about City
government. Residents also had an opportunity to address the entire Council and the
public in attendance as a group. The videotape of that meeting is re-broadcast on cable
channel 16 and available for webcasting 24171365 on the GTV website.
The following is a synopsis of resident questions/concerns raised at the Apri13
Community Town Hall Meeting, and the City Staffs responses:
********s«***********
C1. Some residents expressed concern about the County closing County Road B at
Highway 280. Concerns revolved around possible crises in the northwest comer of the
City and the proximity of the neighborhood to the petroleum tank farms to the north.
Could the state and federal government reconsider the decision to close County Road B at
Highway 280? Whose idea was it to close County B?
RJ , The State's proposal and rationale for working with the County to close County
Road B at Highway 280 is to reduce traffic accidents associated with turning movements
along State Highway 280, including at the intersection of 2$0 and County B. Using a
combination of State and federal funds, the State is proposing to improve Highway 280 in
2005 from approximately the Larpenteur interchange on the south to the point of
Highway 280's merger with Highway 36 on the north. The State and County believe this
will reduce accidents and injuries.
Emergency access from County B to 280 will be available through installation of a
knock-down barricade that would be built as part of the Project. Additional County
improvements are planned at the intersection of County Road B and Cleveland, also due
to safety concerns.
