REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 6/14/04 ITEM NO.: 3.j �ep,artmrut A�prok��►1: _ �� Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: Item Description: Final contract acceptance of City Project No. 03-15 Roseville Pond Maintenance Background: City Proj ect No. 03-15 Roseville Pond Maintenance was awarded to Jay Brothers, of Forest Lake, Minnesota on December 15,2003 . The sediment removal was completed during the winter of 2004. All fmal punch list items have been completed, and the contractor has requested final payment. This proj ect includes sediment delta removal from the following basins, Bennett Lake, Charlie Pond, Long Lake Pond, Oasis Pond, and Villa Park Pond. See attached map for locations. Policy obj ectives: City policy requires that the following items be completed to fmalize a construction contract: • Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in accordance with plans and specifications. • A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. Financial implications: The final contract amount, $79,315.80 is $13,684.20 less than the awarded amount of $93,000. This represents a decr�a� in contract of approximately 14.7%. The decrease was due to actual quantities for this proj ect being� er than estimated. Staff recommendation: All necessary items have been completed in accordance with proj ect plans and specifications. Since all items have been completed as outlined in the policy regarding fmal contract acceptance, staff recommends the City Council approve a resolution accepting the work completed as City Project No. 03-15 Roseville Pond Maintenance and authorizing fmal payment of $9,190.79. The total amount paid for 2003 Contract B is $79,315.80. RECOMNIENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of a resolution accepting the work completed as City Project No. 03-15 Roseville Pond Maintenance, starting the one-year warranty and authorizing fmal payment of $9,190.79.
