City Council Study Session — 06/21/04
DRAFT Minutes - Page 5
(Moved from Consent Item 4.b)
Councilmember Kough requested that purchase of
additional furniture (i.e., 89 chairs for the Council
Chambers) be put on hold, pending completion of the
Council Chambers remodel, noting that the current chairs
were still usable.
City Manager Beets noted that the purchase of new chairs
for the Chambers was part of the fixtures/furniture
reconstruction budget, not an additional expense, and also
that given rising steel prices, this purchase price was
beneficial to the City. Mr. Beets further noted that the
existing chairs were slated for use in other parts of the
building, and would be needed due to the increased space
now realized at the City Ha11 campus.
Councilmember Kough reiterated his desire for the City to
be more conservative.
Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, approval of general
purchases and/or contracts for services for the following:
Vendor
Item/Description
Amount
Clarey's Safety Equipment
Class B Foam for Fire trucks
Alternative Business Furniture
Chairs (89), Council Chambers
Boonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik & Associates
Design services for Skating Center heating system
$7,500.00
10,775.92
9,400.00
Roll Call
Ayes: Ihlan, Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Klausing.
Nays: None.
& Purchases in
Excess of $5,000
S.c Approve Date and Concept Plan for City Open House Approve Date and
