City Council Regular Meeting —10/11/04 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 9 <br />S.a Minnesota Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) <br />Award of Excellence for Sponsorships and Partnerships <br />Mayor Klausing welcomed Roseville Assistant Parks and <br />Recreation Director Jill Anfang, who in turn introduced <br />Ms. Susie Miller, MRPA representative. <br />Ms. Miller reviewed the outreach efforts of the City of <br />Roseville for special events such as Rosefest, noting their <br />importance and cost to the community. Mr. Miller <br />recognized the aggressive recruitment partnerships and <br />sponsorships by staff to maintain and improve the annual <br />quality of this event. <br />Ms. Miller presented the 2004 MRPA "Award of <br />Excellence" for the outstanding work of Roseville Parks <br />and Recreation in their research and development of private <br />partnerships and sponsorships to support Rosefest. <br />Mayor Klausing thanked Ms. Miller for the presentation of <br />the award, and accepted the award on behalf of the City of <br />Roseville, residents and staff. <br />At the discretion of the Chair, no formal action was taken. <br />Councilmember Maschka noted that 2005 would be the 25tn <br />year of the Rosefest, and would provide a new concept for <br />volunteers and staff to pursue. <br />S.b Hear a Presentation from the St. Paul Chamber of <br />Commerce <br />Director of Community Services Jodie Daubert of the St. <br />Paul Area Chamber of Commerce provided an overview of <br />the Chamber's membership geography (with over �/z of its <br />membership from suburban communities); the Chamber's <br />mission, vision, philosophy, initiatives, goals, and local <br />focus, as well as regional impact. Ms. Daubert noted that <br />regional transportation investment was the number one <br />concern of the Chamber and its membership. <br />Ms. Daubert noted the availability of several area <br />MRPA Award of <br />Excellence for <br />Sponsorships and <br />Partnerships <br />St. Paul Area <br />Chamber of <br />Commerce <br />
