City Council Regular Meeting —10/11/04 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 13 <br />and public transit opportunities and resources. <br />Ms. Bennett solicited additional input, thoughts and feedback <br />from the City Council — collectively or individually — and the <br />public to the HRA prior to their next meeting on October 19, <br />2004. Ms. Bennett noted that the HRA had provided copies of <br />the draft report to the Planning Commission, other City advisory <br />commissions and school boards for their comments. Ms. Bennett <br />further noted that the HRA's anticipated next step would be <br />collating this additional input into the report for approval by the <br />HRA and recommendation and presentation to the City Council <br />for their review; anticipated in November of 2004. <br />Councilmember Maschka requested staff and the HRA provide <br />additional demographic information on the purchases of the five <br />single-family units in the Applewood Pointe development; <br />noting that this data would be representative of current market <br />trends. <br />Mayor Klausing noted the value of educating employers and the <br />business community of the diversity and availability of housing <br />units in the community. <br />Councilmember Ihlan noted the apparent need for affordable <br />multi-family rental and larger rental units to accommodate <br />families. <br />Councilmember Schroeder noted the decision-making process as <br />families age and the drawbacks of commuting time and expense. <br />Councilmember Kough noted the additional information needed <br />regarding housing maintenance issues. <br />8. Presentation and Possible Action Relating to Citizen Citizen Advisory <br />Advisory Commissions Commissions <br />City Manager Beets provided background information on <br />discussions regarding citizen advisory commissions; as well as <br />researching two additional possible commissions: a Citizen <br />Environmental Advisory Task Force; and a Business Advisory <br />Commission. Mr. Beets noted that past discussions had not <br />provided consensus regarding commission size, term lengths, <br />
