Date: 11/08/04 <br />Item: 3 j <br />MNDOT Maintenance Support <br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING <br />OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />* * � � ,� �r � �r � � * � � * ,� * � <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the City <br />of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota was duly held on the 8th day of November, <br />2004, at 6:00 p.m. <br />The following members were present: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Member introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION <br />Resolution Requesting the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation to provide Maintenance Support <br />WHEREAS maintenance of government property and facilities is important to the <br />image of Minnesota cities; and <br />WHEREAS Minnesota cities are responsible for enforcement of property maintenance <br />codes that pertain to the mowing of grass, the abatement of noxious weeds, the placement <br />of trash and junk in yards and the maintenance of fences; and <br />WHEREAS the State of Minnesota has many miles of highways running through <br />Minnesota cities; and <br />WHEREAS the rights of way along these highways are characterizedby infrequent <br />mowing, uncollectedlitter, the presence ofnoxious weeds and dilapidatedfences and <br />guard rails; and <br />WHEREAS as the MinnesotaDepartmentof Transportationhas cut a very large <br />percentage of their right-away maintenance staff over the last ten years; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Roseville <br />hereby formally requests that the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportationprovide immediate support for maintenance for all fences and guard rails <br />on State and Interstate highways, including highway ramps, that traverse Minnesota <br />cities; and <br />
