APPENDIX C: Glossary of Terms <br />. Resident vs. household — A resident is one person and a household can include <br />several people who live within a unit of housing. <br />. Empty-nester - includes those who are of the age between 45-64 <br />• First, second, third-ring suburbs — suburbs which are once or twice removed <br />from the fringe of the core city. As an example, Minneapolis is the core city, <br />Roseville is a iirst ring suburb because it borders the core city, Blaine is a second <br />ring suburb because it is removed from the city and Forest Lake is a third ring <br />suburb because it is on the outer edge of the metropolitan region. <br />� Worl�ng age adults— includes those from ages 18-55 but in many cases includes <br />those up to the age of 69. <br />. Residents per unit — The number of residents who live within a unit of housing. <br />. Persons per household — The number of people who live within one home or <br />unit of housing. <br />• The 7-county Twin Cities metropolitan area — Includes Anoka, Carver, Dakota, <br />Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington Counties <br />.
