Ms. Brenner noted <br />that the Bandy Program was hoping to host the 2005 15-year and <br />under World Championship Bandy competitions. Ms. Brenner <br />further noted that of the participants in the Bandy program, one- <br />third are from Roseville, and two-thirds were from the regional <br />area; creating additional support for regional fundraising. <br />Mayor Klausing polled the Council as to their support of staff's <br />recommendation for natural ice for the 2004/OS season. With the <br />exception of Councilmember Schroeder, due to cost implications <br />as previously expressed, there was Council consensus for staff's <br />recommendation. <br />Councilmember Schroeder noted his support of Option 6 for <br />outdoor neighborhood rinks only, providing additional resources <br />and higher priority placement of those rinks for the season, <br />shifting staffing from the OVAL to assist with outdoor rink <br />maintenance. <br />Jan Brodt, 444 Rose Place, representing Roseville Area <br />Youth Hockey Association <br />Ms. Brodt spoke in support of continuing operations at the <br />OVAL, opining that it attracted young families, and the facility <br />was already existing and should be maintained. <br />Immediately prior to the meeting, Vic Brodt, President of the <br />Roseville Area Youth Hockey Association, had presented Mayor <br />Klausing with a petition dated November 1, 2004, and signed by <br />numerous parties in support of the John Rose OVAL (attached). <br />Nathan Quanbeck, 2953 Fairview Avenue N <br />Mr. Quanbeck encouraged the City Council to continue with the <br />OVAL, opining that it was a great asset to the community. <br />Patricia Boyd, St. Paul Resident <br />Ms. Boyd spoke in support of the OVAL and the amount of <br />pleasure it had provided to her, her children and grandchildren; <br />and offered her services and expertise to "give back" some of <br />that joy by assisting with fundraising efforts. Ms. Boyd advised <br />that she was a former Executive Director of the Highland <br />Business Association, and had several ideas for business <br />
