o Code compliance items in the rear yard area include: <br />✓ Overgrown vegetation; <br />✓ Vegetation and matter in the pool; <br />✓ Junk/debris on property. <br />1.5 The property owner has met with City staff and indicated they wish to perform <br />many of the repairs by contracting the work out. <br />2.0 STAFF RECOMMENDATION. <br />2.1 Staff recommends that the Council approve abatement of identified City Code <br />violations with costs not to exceed those listed. <br />2.2 Staff further recommends actions toward repair not be commenced until after <br />August 7, 2000, in order for the property owner to perform the repairs and avoid <br />abatement. Any listed conditions still in violation on August 1, 2000 to be abated <br />by the City (A report will be submitted to Council at the August 7, 2000 meeting <br />with no City authorized work before that date). <br />3.0 SUGGESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />By resolution, authorize the Community Development Director to abate those <br />City Code violations identified in this report which are still in violation as of <br />August 1, 2000, including: <br />1) Re-roof entire structure $6,500 <br />2) Repair soffits / trim 3,500 <br />3� Repaint entire structure 6,000 <br />4� Replace/repair broken windows, screens, doors 2,500 <br />5 Remove junk/debris from yard 500 <br />6� Remove overgrown vegetation from yard and pool 2,500 <br />�� Accessory buildings — replace doors, remove <br />Debris, repaint 3,000 <br />8) Administration (Attorney fees, Code <br />enf orcement inspections) 2,450 (10% estimate) <br />TOTAL: $26,950 <br />Costs are not to exceed those listed. Charges are to be assessed to the property <br />and payment on taxes per City Code 407.06 — 407.07.
