Department Approval: <br />Item Description: <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Manager Reviewed: <br />� <br />: � <br />DATE: 4/10/00 <br />ITEM NO.: F - 2 <br />Agenda Section: <br />Reports and Recommendations <br />Award of bid for 2000 Contract A: Project 98-11, Dale Street/ Roselawn <br />Avenue/ Reservoir Woods Trail <br />Background: The City prepared plans and specifications for the construction of a 2.4 meter (8 foot) <br />wide bituminous trail along Dale Street and Roselawn Avenue as approved by the City Council <br />following a public hearing in July, 1998. <br />Bids were solicited during the month of March and beginning of April. The bids for Project 98-11 were <br />opened on Tuesday, April 4, 2000. <br />Policy objectives: Based on past practice, the City Council has awarded the contract to the lowest <br />responsible bidder. In the case of Project 98-11, the lowest bidder is T.A. Schifsky & Sons, Inc. <br />Financial implications: We received 6 bids for this improvement. The engineer's estimate for Project <br />98-1 1 was $1,943,763.70. The low bid submitted by T.A. Schifsky & Sons, Inc.is $1,631,240.34 or 16% <br />lower than the engineer's estimate.
