REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DAT E : 5/22/00 ITEM N0: c-2 DepartmentApproval: ManagerRevi�wed: Agenda Section: Consent Item Description: Recommendation for Langton Lake Park Property BACKGROUND In 1987, the City of Roseville approved the master plan for Langton Lake Park, which included the acquisition of several properties around the lake. During the past 13 years, 7 parcels have been acquired. There are still 4 remaining properties on the east side of the lake needed to complete the plan. Staff was recently contacted by the owners of the property at 2959 Mildred Dr. that the parcel is up for sale. As staff presented at the Council Work Session, the intent is to continue to recommend that the plan be completed when the opportunities to purchase the remaining parcels matches with available resources. POLICY OBJECTIVE The proposed project is consistent with the policy of acquiring master plan designated property acquisitions when the opportunities to purchase the remaining parcels matches with available funding resources. FINANCIAL IMPLICATION The estimated cost for the property is approximately $160,000. After considering all options, staff has concluded that there are no available financial resources at this time. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Based on the lack of resources, staff recommends that the property not be acquired at this time but that the City study the issue of developing a long-range plan for funding these types of property acquisitions. Staff also recommends that the master plan for Langton Lake Park be maintained and that future opportunities to acquire the designated parcels be considered when available. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Motion authorizing staff to notii the property owners of 2959 Mildred Dr. that, because of the lack of available resources at this time, the City of Roseville declines the offer to purchase their property.
