REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />COPS MORE Universal Hiring Program <br />page two <br />FINANCIALOBLIGATION <br />The COPS More Universal Hiring Grant that the Roseville Police Department has been awarded <br />will allow for the salary of a full-time, entry level officer for a period of three years. The grant <br />money awarded shall not exceed $125,000 with the balance of the entry level officer's salary <br />provided by the City of Roseville. <br />Upon acceptance of this grant, the City of Roseville will be responsible for a portion of the entry <br />level officer's salary. That amount (over a three year grant period) would be $12,110. Matching <br />city funds will be allocated from the existing police operations budget. Should there not be <br />sufficient funds in the police operations budget, the shortfall will be covered by the use of <br />contingency funds. <br />A requirement of this grant is that the agency awarded the grant commit to retaining the school <br />liaison officer for twelve months after the date of grant expiration. The officer's salary breakdown <br />per year follows: <br />Year One: $39,450.00 <br />Year Two: $46,200.00 <br />Year Three: $51,460.00 <br />Year Four: $56,600.00 <br />Total $193,710.00 <br />Less Grant $125000.00 <br />COST TO CITY $68,710.00 <br />The above salaries indude FICA and benefits. <br />The total cost to the City for a full-time officer for four years of service would be approximately <br />$6�,710.00. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Authorize the acceptance of the grant under the terms and conditions described herein. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Authorize the City Manager to accept the COPS MORE Universal Hiring Program (COPS in <br />School Grant) funds of up to $125,000. <br />
