REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 6/12/00 ITEM NOE-1 Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: ��--� �, Organizational Business > Item Description: Gold Medal Video BACKGROUND The National Recreation and Park Association and the National Sporting Goods Association Sport Foundation have notified the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Department that Roseville is a finalist for the National Gold Medal Award for excellence in parks and recreation management. The four finalists in the 20,000 to 50,000 population class are Blue Springs Missouri, James County, Virginia, Lafayette, Colorado and Roseville, Minnesota. The final judging process includes a review of the department system plan and a 15 minute video submitted by the department. This video was developed following notification on May 1St and was submitted on May 31St. City staff inembers Jerry Beck and Elaine Cunningham with support from the Parks and Recreation staff completed the video. Mr. Beck committed many, many hours to the project and we believe the final product to be of the highest quality. The video is scheduled to be shown at the City Council meeting on Monday, June 12. POLICY OBJECTIVE This is consistent with the policy of recognizing significant contributions to the City of Roseville and accomplishments by the City in attaining recognized performance standards. The staff also expresses thanks to Strauss Skates and Bicycles for their nomination of Roseville Parks and Recreation for the Gold Medal Award. FINANCIAL IMPLICATION None STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that Gold Medal Video be shown at the Council Meeting of June 12, 2000 and that Jerry Beck and Elaine Cunningham be commended for their efforts in producing the video. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Motion commending the work performance of Jerry Beck and Elaine Cunningham in producing the Gold Medal Video for the National Parks and Recreation Gold Medal Award.
