Department Approval: <br />�• <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Manager Reviewed: <br />DATE: 6/27/00 <br />ITEM NO. : F _ 2 <br />Agenda Section: <br />Reports/Recommendations <br />Item Description: Award of Contract -- Larpenteur Avenue Streetscape, City Project P-S W-99- 14 <br />Background: On December 13, 1999, the City Council approved plans and specifications and <br />authorized the advertisement for bids for the Larpenteur Avenue Streetscape project. This project is <br />being built in conjunction with the reconstruction of Larpenteur Avenue by Ramsey County. Bids for <br />this project were originally opened on May 16, 2000. Because only one bid was received, the Council <br />rej ected the $2,167,750 bid from Jay Brothers, Inc. and directed staff to rebid the proj ect. <br />New bids were opened on Tuesday June 20, 2000. The following three bids were received: <br />Environmental Associates, Inc. $1,938,982.00 <br />L. S. Black Constructors, Inc. $1,967,661.78 <br />Jay Brothers, Inc. $2,227,514.43 <br />(Engineer's estimate = $2,400,U00) <br />Environmental Associates, Inc. from Willmar Minnesota has successfully completed numerous similar <br />proj ects.
