l
r/
April 11, 2000
112923410019
Charles S. McCann
Jean C. McCann
685 Grandview Ave.
Roseville, MN 55 113
RE: STREET RECONSTRUCTION, CITY PROJECT P-00-02-3 5
Dear Mr. and Mrs. McCann:
As part of the upcoming street project on Grandview Ave., the City will have the contractor
remove and replace the boulevard portion of residential driveways. The City Engineering
Department has examined all driveways for code compliance and existing and proposed grades.
We have found the following two issues that need to be addressed at this time:
The City of Roseville requires that all driveways be brought into compliance with City Code
during a permanent street upgrading. Driveways must be a minimum of thirty feet from an
adjacent street right-of-way line. Currently, the easterly edge of your driveway is less
twenty feet from the St. Albans Street right-of-way line. In order to comply with City Code,
the easterly edge of your driveway would have to be reconstructed thrity feet westerly of the
St. Albans Street right-of-way line.
As an alternative to moving your existing driveway, you can bring it into compliance by
submitting an application for a variance from City Code. I have enclosed the City variance
application if you would prefer this option. If approved, your driveway would be legal and
there would be little or no change of location necessary.
This variance application does need to go before the Planning Commission and City Council
for approval. To make it on the agenda for the June 14 Planning Commission meeting, the
application should be returned to me by May 8, 4:30 pm.
Upon reviewing your driveway, it is recommended as part of this proj ect that the City's
contractor remove and replace the boulevard portion of your driveway and a portion of
driveway on your property in order to provide you with a better slo e to the new street. The
proposed driveway work and easement are depicted on Exhibit A. his would be part of the
overall proj ect cost with no direct, additional cost to you.
2660 Civic Center Drive ¢ Roseville Minnesota 55113
651-490-2200 ¢ TDD 651-490-2207
