Welsc6 from the Minnesota Chapter of the American Planning
Association (MnAPA).
I met Dennis Welsch when I was a graduate student at Mankato State
University in 1980. Dennis was on the Board for the Minnesota Planning
Association and I was the student representative. Dennis was employed at
Red Wing at the time. Immediately, he welcomed my input as a student and
made sure that I felt comfortable participating with the Board. I did not have
the opportunity to work with Dennis again until three years ago when he
helped organize the "Community Development Director Forum" for
Community Development Directors in the north part of the metro area. As a
result of those meetings, I became more familiar with Dennis and what a
positive influence he is on his colleagues. He strives to find the best, long-
term solution for public issues. He seems to excel at linling good ideas with
the right resources. He is always willing to share his experience with fellow
planners. Finally, the best example and testimony of Dennis' work is
working with his former employees. Scott Hickok is the Planning
Coordinator for Fridley and Meg McMonigal has also completed consultant
