The proclamation is in honor and appreciation of an estimated 70 <br />manufacturing companies in Roseville. <br />2.0 Back_qround <br />2.1 This is the 7th year that the State of Minnesota has been celebrating the <br />importance of the manufacturing industry in Minnesota. Each community is <br />encouraged to recognize their manufacturing companies as part of the state <br />manufacturerweek celebration. <br />3.0 Manufacturing Industry in the State and Roseville <br />3.1 The State of Minnesota cites seven reasons why manufacturing is worth <br />recognizing. <br />Manufacturing companies employ nearly one out of every five non-farm <br />workers in Minnesota - nearly 446,000 people. <br />2. Manufacturing accounts for 23 percent of Minnesota's total wages. <br />3. Manufacturing jobs pay a livable wage averaging between $40,000 to <br />$60,000 per year. <br />4. Manufacturing has the largest total payroll of any business sector in <br />Minnesota. <br />5. Manufacturing produces $28.3 billion worth of goods for Minnesota <br />economy; which is 18.9 percent of the gross state product. <br />6. Manufacturing's exports brought nearly $9.2 billion into the Minnesota <br />RCA - Mfg. Proclamation 10/02/2000 - Page 1 of 2 <br />
