September29, 20Q0
VIA FAY QtLY
City Manager
Fax No.: 651/49Q-2931
RE: Planning File No. 3251 - Kraus-Anderson Reality
For a conditional use permit to conduct bingo at Hsmline Center
Dear Sir:
My wife and 1 are writing this letter to make know our disapproval of any permit being issucd to
the subject bingo hall allowing it to operate in the Hamline Center mall.
As area residents, we feel that bringing the bingo hall into our clean, quiet neighborhood would
be a detriment for all the people living in the area. It may be felt by some that the revenue
generated by the bingo hall would be beneficial to the community, but ultimately the bad will
out-weigh the good, especially for those of us who live close to the mall. Not only will we, as
residents, have to deal with a significant increase in traffic and noise, but also the possible
criminal element that could be brought in.
My wife and I pay a significant amount of money to live in this neighborhood because it is a
quiet neighborhood, yet we are still in close proximity to many businesses. We would tikie our
neighborhood to remain as it is, but do not see how it could if this bingo ha]I is allowed to do
business in Hamline Center.
My wife and I both work near Roseville, and are looking to buy a home in this area because of
neighborhood and its convenient access to all the shops, stores and restaurants. But any
problems that may arise from having a bingo hall in the area would definitely sway our thoughts
of staying in Roseville, much less buying a home here.
We support trying to bring businesses into Hamline Center because the mall is already there and
could be a nice place to go for shopping, but as we see it, a bingo hall is a business that would
only bcnefit a select few, and will bring nothing positive to the mall or the majority of the people
living in this area.
PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS LETTER TO THE CITY COUNSEL MEMBERS ON OR
BEFORE THE OCTOBER 2, 2000 6:30 P.M. COUNSEL MEETING.
Sincerely,
Ed and Gwen Chase
1360 Terrace Drive, Apt. 303
Roseville, MN 55113
6511636-2867
t0 3Jid WJI Mti ?J393t71. 9T9S-£EE-ZZ9 SS 80 9Q0Zf6Zt60
