A staff committee consisting of the Community Development Director, Park and Recreation <br />Director, Public Works Director and Ramsey County Traffic Engineer reviewed and ranked each <br />proposal. Staff recommends that Dahlgren, Shardlow and Uban, Inc. (DSU) be selected to <br />complete this project. DSU has developed a recognized expertise in the area of streetscape <br />design. Their past work has received numerous design awards including a MASLA Merit Award <br />for the Larpenteur Avenue Streetscape Master Plan. <br />Financial implications: It was originally estimated that this project would cost between <br />$50,000 and $60,000 to complete. DSU's proposal estimated the project cost to be $59,800. If <br />approved, staff will negotiate a final scope of work and contract with DSU for an amount not to <br />exceed $60,000. The first $20,000 would be funded through the existing 2000 budget reserved <br />for boulevard landscaping and the remaining $40,000 from the 2000 contingency fund. <br />RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: <br />Motion to select Dahlgren, Shardlow and Uban, Inc. to prepare the County Road C Urban <br />Design Master Plan and authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract not to exceed <br />$60,000 for this work. <br />. , <br />Motion to appropriate $40,000 from the 2000 Contingency Fund for consulting services <br />necessary to complete the County Road C Urban Design Master Plan. <br />Prepared by: Karl Keel <br />
