REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
DATE: 1 1/27/00
ITEM NO.: F -1
Department ApprovaL• Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section:
 / Reports/Recommendations

Item Description: Final contract acceptance of 1999 Park Improvement Project,
City Projects M-99-07,99- 10, 99- 11 and 99- 16
Background:
1999 Park Improvement Project consists of City Project numbers:
M-99-07 Central Park
M-99-10 Owasso Hills Park
M-99- 11 Pioneer Park
M-99-16 Miscellaneous Pathways
The contract for this work was awarded to Central Landscaping of Forest Lake, Minnesota on
June 14, 1999. The attached Council Action Form details project financing and schedule. These
projects were constructed during the summer of 1999 and completed in 2000. Final punch list
items have been completed, and the contractor has requested final payment.
Policy objectives: City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a
construction contract:
. A project summary sheet detailing costs and schedule.
. Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in
accordance with plans and specifications.
. A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty.
Financial implications: The work performed on this contract was part of the 1999 Park
Improvement Project. The cost of this contract has been financed through the City Park
Improvement Program and Recreation Facilities funds.
The final contract amount, $813,211.05 is $83,830.30 greater than the awarded amount of
$729,380.75. This represents an overrun of approximately 11.5%. 8% of the overrun is due to a
change order, and 3.5% is from quantity overruns. The change order was approved by the City
Council earlier this year, it included costs for debris removal, and drainage improvements.
