REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DepartmentApprovaL Manager Reviewed <br />� ��g <br />% <br />Item Description: 2001 Utility Rate Adjustments <br />Background <br />Date: 11/27/00 <br />Item No.: F-3 <br />Agenda Section <br />Reports and <br />Recommendations <br />During the Council work session on November20, 2000, staff presented information regarding the <br />2001 utility rate analysis. <br />The St. Paul Water Board has notified the City of a 1.5% increase in our wholesale water costs for <br />200 L The Metropolitan Council Environmental Services Division (MCES), has also notified us that <br />we would be receiving a 1.7% decrease in sanitation processing rates in 2001 resulting in a 1.3% <br />decrease in the City's total sewer costs . <br />The rates for the storm sewer charges and recycling would continue unchanged. <br />There is no significant net change to the average utility bill for 2001. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff has analyzed the proposed wholesale rate changes from both St. Paul and the MCES and is <br />recommending the attached schedule containing the proposed 2001 utility rates with 1.5% increase <br />in the water rates, and a 1.3% decrease in sanitary sewer flow rates. <br />Staff is recommending no rate changes in the storm drainage rates or recycling rates for 200 1. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion accepting the resolution establishing the changes in water and sanitary sewer rates for fiscal <br />year 200 1. <br />H:\ W ORDPR� 1\UTILITY�2001.
