REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DAT E : 11 /27/00 ITEM NO: C-7 Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: G� 4�� Consent Item Description: Authorization for Rose Parade BACKGROUND During the past 10 years, the Rose Parade has been an important part of the annual Rosefest celebration sponsored by the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Department. The Rose Parade is organized by the Parade Committee under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Dept. The Co-Chairs of the 2001 Rose Parade Committee are Mary and Denny Harris. The parade is scheduled for Monday, June 25, 2001 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The parade route will begin this year at the Roseville Area High School and proceed east on Cty. Rd B- 2, then north on Lexington and then west on Cty. Rd. C to the John Rose Minnesota OVAL. The pre-staging area is in the high school complex area. The neighborhoods along the route will be posted ahead of time indicating the traffic delays. Letters will also again be sent making residents of the upcoming event. The Roseville Police will again also insure assistance if residents need to exit or gain access to their residence during the parade. POLICY OBJECTIVE The City Council has annually approved the staging of the Rose Parade. FINANCIAL IMPLICATION The Rose Parade is paid for from fees, sponsorships and donations. Staff time is used to coordinate the planning and for setup and cleanup of the parade route. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval of the 2001 Rose Parade scheduled for Monday June 25, 2001. COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED Motion authorizing the 2001 Rose Parade.
