Whatever the numbers are, do you know if we
prebooked them into the budget we passed? I've copied Chris in case
this is more appropriately a question for him. tlp
-----Original Message-----
From: Rick Mathwig [mailto:rick.mathwig@ci.roseville.mn.us]
Sent: Friday, January 08, 2010 12:55 PM
To: Tammy Pust; Bill Malinen; *RVCouncil
Cc: Margaret Driscoll
Subject: RE: Police Vehicle Purchases
It will be difficult to give you detailed information from the past
years as the information contained on the General Ledger as supplied by
Finance does not specifically list what type of vehicle was sold at
auction (squad, investigator vehicle or a forfeited vehicle from a drunk
driver or other crimes). The information generally lists "Public Safety
Vehicles at MidAmerica Auction".
I feel comfortable the following information is related to retired squad
cars from 2007-2009 as depicted on the general ledger:
2007- it appears three squad cars yielded: $3,950, $6,225 and $6,325
2008- it appears three squad cars yielded: $5,050, $6,675 and $7,340
2009- it appears one squad yielded: $5,575
I do know more squads than those mentioned above were retired but I
cou;d not verify the amount received at auction. Also, in the past few
years one retired squad was transferred to Public Works instead of
purchasing a new vehicle.
The entire staff at MidAmerica Auctions is currently in Las Vegas
hosting a large motorcycle auction so I am unable to give you their
estimate on what the retired squads, if approved, will generate at
auction. The staff returns to Minnesota next week. MidAmerica does a
great job in maximizing the potential profits of vehicles sold at their
auctions as I have seen it for myself before their staff even met me.
MidAmerica staff should have a good idea on the current market as it
pertains to used squad cars.
I hope this limited information is of use.
Rick
Rick Mathwig
Acting Chief of Police
Roseville Police Department
2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, MN 55113
651-792-7008
651-792-7200 fax
www.cityofroseville.com/police
~li~llD
