Regional �ater Services <br />�v �1�.�°�sbachC ei.r��pievv�od.rrt��e ��s <br />Dear City and Water District Officiais, <br />I'm revisiting the issue of the freezing of the sanitary sewer line at the street in <br />front of my hame in February 2047, during "u��sual and leng�hy sub-zero temperatures" <br />as�d thc s�bsequent backf.�p into my �asemen� causing $4,6S0.6Q in darr�ages, repair, and <br />personal property los�, al1 of whieh I paid for out of pocket; plus the inconvenience of not <br />having the ability to use the toi�e�, shower, ar dishwasher in my home for a ft.ill weeks <br />time. The �najor expense was the repair to the tine on the citylcounty/water district side, <br />and in effect cos� rr�e much rnore beeause I was unable ta pay for t}�e services directly, <br />and had to put it on a credit card and pay interest in addi#ior� to the principie over a year's <br />tiFne. When I conta.cted fihe city �n 2007 I was told ii was a cout�ty iss�xe, who tvld me it <br />was a water distr�ct issue, who told me it wasn't iheir issue, and there was nothing that <br />co�zld be done. (In a phor�e conversation today with Ra�sey County I was assured thai <br />the county has no govErnance with regard to the water sys#ern within tl�e Rase�ille city <br />limits.) <br />Ir� the winter af 2008 nothing happened and it see�ned the probiem was resolved, <br />w�iich was goad because I was still paying the bill frorn 2007. The ex�er�ses incur�ed in <br />that insta.nce co�rxz.bine� with the crumbling state of tiae economy and the fact that I had a <br />`bad' mortgage, which I spent a great deat o� �he last year get�ng modif ed, put me in <br />near f nanciai disaster (including the inability to pay nYy property ta.xes in fixll for ihe <br />second half of 200$), when it happened again �.e recently passed winter. February 2009 <br />was e�remeiy cold with Yittle snow cover and the sewer under the raad 'zn front of my <br />house froze again, this time costin�; zne $933.20 in thavving charges. I did all the elean up <br />myself this time beca�se I could not afford to br�ng someone in, al�-in-ail not a pleasant <br />or easy thing for me. <br />Adding to the inconvenience af this happening twice forcing me ta leave my <br />house ta find bat�xoozn facilities d.uring the caldest and ieiest �ime of the year, I believe it <br />warth bringing to everyone's atte�tion that I'm semi-handicapped and unable to drive in <br />the dark, and live alone on a. very fixed incorne. i've been in this �ause since the fall of <br />2003, spent a great deal of money making it accessible sa I could live here independently <br />
