Planning Commission Meeting
Minutes – Wednesday, April 01, 2009

Page 4
Drive (independent senior building); based on the comments of Section 6 and the
condition of Section 7 of the project report dated April 1, 2009.
Ayes: 6
Nays: 0
Motion carried.
Chair Doherty noted that the case was scheduled to be heard by the City Council at their
April 20, 2009 meeting.
c. PLANNING FILE 09-010
Chair Doherty opened the Public Hearing for Case 09-010 at approximately 7:16 p.m.
Mr. Trudgeon advised that while this case relating to an industrial area on the west side
of the City had been advertised and noticed for hearing at tonight’s meeting, there was
additional internal work to be completed between the applicant and staff; and advised
that staff would re-advertise and re-notice the meeting for the May 6, 2009 Planning
Commission meeting.
MOTION
Member Boerigter moved, seconded by Member Wozniak to CONTINUE to the May
2009 Planning Commission meeting, Planning File 09-010.
Ayes: 6
Nays: 0
Motion carried.
7. Other Business
a. Government Training Services training/education programs
Mr. Trudgeon advised Commissioners of available funds for training for Commissioners;
and requested that interested commissioners contact staff for available seminars. Mr.
Trudgeon noted that the City Attorney, in the near future, would be providing a training
session for the Planning Commission and specific Roseville issues.
Discussion included training seminars available on-line; and staff requested to provide
additional information to commissioners by e-mail; and requested that the City Attorney
training be provided at a meeting with a light agenda.
b. Elect a Vice-Chairperson for the Planning Commission
MOTION
Member Doherty moved, seconded by Member Wozniak to ELECT Commissioner
Daniel Boerigter as Vice Chair of the Planning Commission.
Ayes: 5
Nays: 0
Abstentions: 1 (Boerigter)
Motion carried.
c. Select new members as necessary for the Variance Board
Chair Doherty sought volunteers for the Variance Board, noting that they had not met
since October of 2008; but requested that he be able to relinquish his role to the Variance
Board, given his new role as Planning Commission Chair.
Mr. Trudgeon advised that the limited number of meetings in the recent past is due to the
current economy and construction level in the City, and not based on staff’s
administrative deviations. Mr. Trudgeon opined that the spring construction season may
see more variance requests being brought forward.
Commissioner Gottfried advised that, while he had not been tapped for a long time as an
alternate, it was difficult for him to make a 5:30 meeting during the legislation session;
and would prefer to remain an alternate and not to serve on a regular basis.
