REQUEST FOR HRA ACTION
Department Approval:
PT
Date: 3-18-08
Item No: 8 a.
Agenda Section:
Action Items
Item Description: City of Roseville, 2008 Home and Garden Fair: Resolution of Appreciation
1.0 BACKGROUND
1.1 On February 23, 2008, the Roseville HRA held the twelfth annual City of Roseville
Home and Garden Fair, at the Fairview Community Center. The Fair has become
increasingly popular with both exhibitors and the general public. This popularity is due
in large part to the over 450 hours volunteers have dedicated this year toward the effort to
professionalize the Fair by making it informative and fun for the attendees as well as
profitable for the exhibitors.
1.2 This year the Home and Garden Committee started planning the Fair in August 2007. The
result of the ongoing efforts for the 2008 Home and Garden Fair produced 64 diverse
exhibit booths and 24 informative seminars that attracted attendance by the public of
approximately 1,000.
1.3 Again this year the coordinating committee was successful in obtaining private
Sponsorships. Each sponsor contributed $600 to help to offset to costs of the fair. The
continued support of the sponsors demonstrates the private commitment to the success of
the Fair.
1.4 Comments received include:
•"Great variety — nice size and layout"
• "Friendly staff/greeters"
•"...lots of "Roseville" info: parks, trails, etc."
• "...liked the `how-to' seminars"
•"The people are really warm and friendly. Nicely laid out"
2.0 STAFF RECOMMENDATION
2.1 The staff recommends that the HRA acknowledge the efforts of the volunteers that
participated in the 2008 Home and Garden Fair by approving the attached resolution
thanking them for the many hours dedicated to the success of the Fair.
3.0 SUGGESTED HRA ACTION
3.1 By resolution extend the HRA's appreciation and gratitude to the Sponsors and to all the
volunteers who participated in the 2008 Roseville Home and Garden Fair.
Prepared by: HRA Administrative Coordinator Kara Hoier (651-792-7015)
Attachment A: Resolution of Appreciarion for Sponsors and Volunteers of the 2008 Home and Garden Fair
2008 Roseville Home & Garden Fair Appreciarion Resolution
