REQUEST FOR HRA ACTION <br />Da�e: 7-15-08 <br />Item No: 8 a. <br />Staff Approva�; Agenda Section <br />���'"'V Actian Items <br />Item Description: Mar�Cetin� RHRA Pro�rams (HF0070} <br />��,.�.. �,��._�.� . ,,.., �.�_,,, <br />1.0 Requested Action <br />Staff is requesting authorization to work with George Hornik for mar�Cetin� services as <br />descril�ed in tY�e attached proposal. <br />2.0 Background <br />2.1 Every year, the RHRA has budgeted for marketing and advertising of the RHRA <br />Programs, Newsletter and Horne and Garden Fair. It has been a high priority for the <br />RHRA to market information to the corrimunity about the variety of programs and events <br />it offers every year. <br />2.2 Staff discussed various options with the City's coznmunications staff and also ]aoked at <br />all r�aterials that have been produced in the past. From those discussions ar�d the review <br />of brochures, staff felt that it was important to consider professional expertise in <br />branding, marketing and communication materials to be Updated. It kaas also been key <br />issue for the RHRA that any marketing strategy reaIly gets a"bang far the buck". <br />2.3 The budget for 20d8 for marketing just far the RHRA is $20,000. Sa far to date the <br />RHRA has spent approximately $1 b00 for the Housing Link Newsletter and flyers in the <br />take home backpacks in the schools. The proposal that �he RHRA has from Mar. Hornik <br />inefudes design and praductian costs far RHRA brochure and inserts, newsletter design <br />and printing, web update including redesign, rewrite, �epositioning and implementation <br />along with examing and printing of new target marketing is between $11,650-13,450 <br />which can be acconlmodated in this vear's budget. <br />2.4 As part of the RHRA Baards Strategic PIan that the 2009 Home and Garden Fair rebrand <br />itsel� and make the "Gr�en theme" one of the �Cey objectives far this next year. 5taff felt <br />that i# was a�ain important ta use a person with a marketing background to help estabiish <br />this priority of the RHRA.
