Recognitions <br />Member Masche referenced the recently-presented annual audit to the City Council; noting their <br />comments regarding the great improvement evidenced in the financial accountability and record- <br />keeping of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority; and commended staff, specifically Housing <br />Coordinator Jeanne Kelsey for those improvements, noring the importance to staff and the auditor's <br />recognition of this accomplishment. <br />Members concurred; and Chair Maschka praised staff for this positive report. <br />9. Presentations <br />a. Crime Free Multi-Housing Coalition <br />Executive Director Trudgeon introduced Crime Free Multi-Housing <br />Shannon Thompson; and Captain Rick Mathwig of the Roseville Polic <br />Chair Maschka welcomed Ms. Thompson and Captain Mathwig. <br />Ms. Thompson briefly reviewed how the Coalition was fo � d and their mission as <br />G�ir' <br />in assisting multi-family housing unit tenants and G,��wners ough partne� <br />municipalikes and police departments. _ <br />Ms. <br />with <br />Ms. Thompson reviewed incentives used by the Coalitio courage membership; monthly <br />meetings providing an overview of the Coalition's purpo revi w of crime trends by <br />officers in the various communities; market information for ' ily units; collection of <br />dues to pay for speakers, supplies invitations; and an annual potlr�ek of inembers along with a <br />food drive with any ea�tra dues provi food chariti�� (i.e., Second Harvest). Ms. <br />Thompson provided HRA members kx �ision statement and core values; <br />noring their purpose was to educate o rs of - `{ units and provide support to learn <br />from each other's eaperiences. Ms. T m n note hat owners were educated on how to <br />work posirively with police and their entarives, with the Police Departments providing <br />monthly reports to owners on activities ��t their buildings; one-on-one discussions between <br />owners and police offi���.at monthly me�ti ; community crime trends; recruitment of new <br />members; and m` `�terials provide�` o new owners and buildings. <br />Captain ��";,ig <br />minimunt, <br />the police of <br />present or availa <br />for �c1���l�uns on <br />T�e2pi�t� t�� "� ll ne: <br />Discussion ;�ong <br />number of ��artmE <br />date; and i�entific� <br />����ille Police Department perspective, opining that at a <br />�rovided great opporiuniries to exchange information from <br />e(i.e., building issues occurring when caretakers may not be <br />make the building a better place to live for all renters; guidance <br />drug-free properties for easier removal of problem renters; and <br />s safe and rental units better places to rent and live. <br />Ms. Thompson, Captain Mathwig, staff and HRA members included the <br />nt buildings/units in Roseville; acrive apartment community member's to- <br />ion of other communiries involved in the Coalition. <br />�r. '��iidgeon advised that the City of Roseville's Multi-Family Housing Program will require <br />��trnent complexes to be members of the Coalition to receive any funds from the City. Mr. <br />�fudgeon noted the need to differentiate the multi-family building owners who are making <br />posirive efforts versus those showing less interest in partnering with the City and Police <br />Department. Mr. Trudgeon assured the HRA and public that the HRA fully supported the <br />efforts of the property owners and Police Department to reduce crime through outreach <br />opporiunities. <br />Further discussion included interaction of officers on the scene at calls with tenants and <br />landlord norificarion of that interaction the following day, with Captain Mathwig noring the <br />
