g i, <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />Date: March 22, 2010 <br />Item No.: �3/ c <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Appoint members to the Parks and Recreation and Police Civil Service <br />Commissions <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City received nine applications for two vacancies on the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />and three applications for one vacancy on the Police Civil Service Commission. On March 8, the <br />Council interviewed all 12 applicants. <br />Commissioners are appointed to three-year terms and are eligible to serve up to two consecutive <br />full terms. All three appointments would be for full terms that expire March 31, 2013. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />• Appoint and to the Parks and Recreation Commission for <br />terms ending March 31, 2013. <br />• Appoint to the Police Civil Service Commission for a term ending <br />March 31, 2013. <br />Prepared by: William J.
