Roseville Public Works, Environment and
Transportation Commission
Agenda Item
Date: August 26, 2008
Item Description: County Road C Streetscape Project Review
Item No: 9
The County Road C Streetscape project is substantially complete. There are a few items left for
the contractor to complete:
City Hall sign/ planting area: The contractor is waiting for the City Hall sign to be
fabricated. Once it is installed, they will finish planting the landscaped bed at the corner of
Lexington and County Road C.
Native seeding: the slope along City Hall and along Howard Johnson Park is slated to have
native seeding installed. The Contractor was unable to get these areas prepped prior to the
spring seeding date, June 20. For erosion control reasons, these slopes were seeded with an
annual grass. The Contractor will be seeding these areas during the fall planting window.
City Staff continues to get questions regarding maintenance and watering of the landscaping
installed as a part of this project. Here are some details regarding the specifications for th.e
landscaping on this project:
Warranty: All of the trees, perennials, and shrubs that were installed are covered by a 2-year
warranty. For the next two years, it is the contractor's responsibility to weed, trim, and
water all of the plants on the project to ensure that it is successful. We have requested that
the contractor provide for us a maintenance schedule so we can agree on their scope of work
for these next two growing seasons.
Watering. The contractor has a moisture sensor and has been measuring around the newly
planted trees, shrubs and perennials to ensure he does not under water or over water them.
To date they have been using a water truck to deliver water. The Contractor is aware of the
trees that are showing stress and understands that they will be required to replace trees,
shrubs and plants that do not succeed, or they will not be paid for them.
The sod that was installed has a 30-day warranty, if at the end of 30 days, the sad is not
vigorously growing, the contractor will be required to replace it. The 30 days is up at the
end of August.
Recommended Action:
Discussion of project
